Thomson's Falls

One of Kenya's best-known waterfalls — a 74-metre drop on the Ewaso Narok river, a short ride from campus. Viewpoints, walks and picnic lawns for the weekend you earned.

High, cool and clear

At roughly 2,360 metres above sea level, Nyahururu is among the highest towns in Kenya. Cool mornings and study-friendly weather, all year.

A town that builds champions

The same altitude that cools your classroom trains world-class distance runners — Olympic marathon champion Samuel Wanjiru came from Nyahururu. Morning runs here are serious business.

Latitude zero

The Equator crosses just outside town on the Nakuru road. Not many students walk past the middle of the Earth on a weekend stroll.

The region's lake, an easy trip away — hippos, papyrus and remarkable birdlife when you need a day that is not about revision.

The town

Calm, walkable, affordable

Nyahururu is a working market town, well connected by road to Nakuru, Nyeri and Nairobi — and day-to-day costs sit well below the big cities. Your money goes further here.

Day scholar or boarder — your choice

  • Both are optional and neither is hidden in the tuition fee. Meals for day scholars are KES 7,500 per trimester; boarding is KES 22,500 per trimester.
  • On Bridging (which runs 3-month trimesters) the extras are priced monthly instead: meals KES 3,000 per month, boarding KES 5,700 per month.
  • Living in town works too. Many students stay in Nyahururu and walk or ride to Boiman Road — ask us on WhatsApp what students typically pay in town.

What your week actually looks like

  • Trimesters of 4 months set the rhythm — classroom blocks, skills-lab practice and assessments, with block exams each trimester.
  • Nursing students rotate through real wards. Clinical placement happens at the five placement sites approved by the Nursing Council of Kenya — details on the nursing page.
  • TVET programmes build workplace attachment in — practicals and attachment are part of the programme, not an extra you arrange yourself.
  • Skills lab and ICT lab on campus — you practise on equipment before you meet a patient or a client.
